Kim Fournier MA, CD is a climate adaptation and disaster management consultant, author, instructor, and a visionary strategist specializing in real results for today and sustainable solutions for tomorrow. Well known for her innovative, comprehensive, practical, and compassionate approach, Kim grounds her vast experience and knowledge with a deep respect for humanity and the natural world to cultivate resilient communities.


Kim is passionate about helping families and communities cope with disasters and adapt to climate change, contributing her diverse skills and knowledge to global solutions. She feels privileged to be part of a global risk reduction and climate adaptation team that strives to improve resilience and self-reliance for this generation and the ones to come.


Kim’s unique expertise has been honed throughout her dynamic 35-year career. She integrates her experience in community outreach and health, public education, survival, disaster management, preparedness, and response, as well as international, interdisciplinary, and humanitarian operations. She served for 25 years with the Canadian Forces, for which she has been awarded medals honoring her missions, accomplishments, and dedication. She also holds a MA in Disaster and Emergency Management among other educational accomplishments.

  • Over 30 years in climate adaptation, disaster management, community outreach, public education, training, and public health roles with experience in complex, multi-site, multi-disciplinary, and humanitarian organizations
  • 25 years with the Canadian Forces including work with the Army, Navy, and Air Force in disaster management, community resilience & health, public education, survival, medical, and public health roles — in Canada and abroad, with four overseas missions
